The fatigue strength of a type of belt-drive pulley for vehicle is analyzed by FEM . Due to the complexity of belt-drive pulley and belt system
the contact between pulley and belt should be considered in the analysis of fatigue strength of pulley. The contact is dealt with the convenient node-face contact model and the whole contact problem is deduced on the basis of Lagrangian multiplier method. Finally
the distribution of fatigue strength of the pulley-belt system is obtained through the procedure. From the view of optimizing of pulley
the analysis results can provide more useful parameters for the further design of this kind of components.
