A numerical simulation model of variable offset regrinding for the carbide gear hobs with straight flutes is built based on the radial relief grinding in the final manufacturing procedure for them. From the results obtained from the computer’s simulation for the procedure of variable offset regrinding
it is shown that the approach of variable offset regrinding can improve the tooth profile accuracy of the hob more greatly than constant offset regrinding. The mathematical model developed can be used in the regrinding of gear hobs with zero rake angle and positive rake angle for error estimation and revision as well.
