The principle of metal belt drive with permanent magnet(MBDPM)and the structures of magnetic pulley and metal belt are introduced in this paper.The stress distribution of metal belt is also analyzed and discussed.The rare earth permanent magnet installed in the pulley can produce magnetic field and attract the metal belt.The friction force between pulley and metal belt can be increased by a great extent.In MBDPM
the direction of attractive stress is opposite to that of bending stress and centrifugal stress
so the force condition of metal belt is improved and the maximal working stress is reduced.
