For cracking of large components arising from the heat process
the factors
such as quenching thickness
heating temperature and cooling speed will be considered during normal production
while over-quenching will be always ignored.By taking a large sprocket wheel cracking after the heat process as an example
the over-quenching is point out as the main factor of forming such cracking based on analysis of chemical composition of the material and heat process. Moreover
a mechanical machining method is proposed aiming to repair such cracking and a finite element analysis is used for stress analysis on machined sprocket wheel to provide theoretical basis for the production.
