The cylindrical roller used in the overrunning clutch is taken as research object.Aiming at the effect of edge stress produced by the contact between roller and roller way
it is proposed to adopt drum roller during the design of roller to reduce the edge of the roller contact stress
then the roller stress tend to be uniform.By using the finite element analysis software Workbench a calculational analysis for the contact stress between the roller and the roller way is carried out
then the most optimal drum curve of drum quantity is achieved
and the contact stress is more reasonable
so that the service life of overrunning clutch is improved.This optimization design results could have a certain guiding significance on the improvement of working reliability and stability for the overrunning clutch.
