A new method to evaluate the risk of micropitting is proposed through the new design concept of the international standard ISO/TR 15144-1:2010(E).There are two design thought described in the standard.The Method B is relatively simple to apply
but the application range and calculation accuracy are limited for gear with profile modifications.The calculation process of method A is complicated and needs the help of KISSsoft software tool to simulate the stress distribution on the tooth in the tooth contact meshing period.The failure of micropitting risk can be reduced by several effective modification solutions recommend from KISSsoft.
