A new method of two step machining method for the cosine gear is introducted paper

and the mathematical model of two-step machining method is established.First

the tool path of two-step machining method is verified by using Matlab

and the coordinates of tooth profile curve are collected via tool enveloping method

and then solid model of arbitrary tool profile is created with Pro/E.last

the simulation of NC milling on 3-axis NC milling machine is carried out.By manufacturing a cosine gear

correctness of the simulation results（obtained by the software Matlab and Pro/E） and feasibility of the machining process are proved.
