Currently

the electric barriers widely used in road toll stations do not have safety mechanism. Sometimes it happens that the barriers crash vehicles incidentally

damaging the vehicles and injuring the drivers. This paper describes a mechanical safety device for the barriers. If the barrier attempts to hit a vehicles

the safety device will control the barrier to return to the vertical position automatically.
