In normal driving Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) preselect gear to achieve power shift. But preselection will lead a higher torque loss i.e. lower efficiency. The modeling and simulating of the vehicle dynamics are carried out by using AVL Cruise, the influence of preselection strategy and non-preselection strategy on fuel consumption under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is analyzed. Comparing the average transmission efficiency and combined fuel consumption of NEDC the following conclusion can be made: non-preselection can get 0.7% lower fuel consumption than preselection regarding NEDC. In consequence under premise of without affecting the power shift, optimizing the preselection strategy to increase the working time of preselection neutral gear can improve the vehicle fuel economy.
